Senior Mine Engineer
Be a part of the initial team to grow and develop a new underground mine project that is rapidly becoming regionally significant within Ontario, Canada.
Reporting to the Chief Engineer, the Senior Mine Engineer will be responsible for supporting the safe production of short- and medium-term mining plans and ensuring designs are mineable and comply to best practices and all relevant legislation. The Senior Mine Engineer will work 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off schedule.
The focus of this role will include:
• Follow safe working practices and site safety guidelines
• Support the production of short and medium-term mining plans.
• Create templates and ensure design compliance from the engineering team.
• Review and prepare development designs in line with long and short-term mining schedule.
• Update the intermediate mine schedule to align with current mine priorities
• Complete month and year end reconciliation reports
• Update and create weekly, monthly, and planning reports
• Design longhole production layouts including, but not limited to, cable bolt layouts, raise layouts, and production drilling layouts.
• Develop and present the monthly and yearly mine plan to the operations team.
• Liaise with various departments to ensure the mine plan is viable and in compliance with all required standards, including safety, environmental and legislative.
• Communicate with Operations to ensure all plans are executed to design.
• Mentor and train junior engineering team members.
• Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience:
• A tertiary degree in mining engineering or technologist or related discipline.
• 5 to 10 years’ experience in an underground mining operation.
• Proven ability in safe work practices.
• Solid knowledge of underground mine design, as well as the technical processes related to planning and scheduling, including mine ventilation, ground control, and mine infrastructure.
• Strong computer skills, including AutoCAD, Deswik.CAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Proficiency in, Deswik.CAD, Deswik.Sched, and Deswik.UGDB, considered an asset.
• Ability to work independently.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent proven team player approach to work.
• Valid driver’s license.
