METALLURGICAL TECHNICIAN – Lab Tech
ROLE PURPOSE:
Support the metallurgical team by organizing and executing mill sampling campaigns, completing lab scale test work, and mill performance optimization. Ensure proper operation of mill process analyzers and completing regular inspections of equipment.
Undertake specific projects to improve production plant performance. Collaborate with other mill departments to ensure safe functionality of the Client’s plant, as well as mining and geology groups to ensure production targets are met.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY & DUTIES:
AREA 1:
Mill process metallurgy and refinery operational excellence.
•Participate in mill process metallurgy activities including sampling, analysis, testing, circuit performance, and metallurgical accounting.
•Plan and execute lab scale test work; prepare concise test work reports with findings
•Engage with vendors, consultants, and contractors where required.
•Analyze and interpret metallurgical and process data to ensure alignment with operational objectives.
•Investigate whether methods being used are the most efficient, safe, and environmentally acceptable.
•Plan and coordinate sampling campaigns in the mill.
•Prepare reports and written materials related to technical recommendation and improvements to mill operations.
•Ensure safe, efficient, and accurate operation of online analyzers and samplers throughout the process.
•Assist with the development and revision of procedures as well as job hazard analysis.
•Complete scanning and inspections of critical mill equipment during planned shutdowns.
•Other duties as required.
AREA 2:
Work collaboratively with others to deliver innovative continuous improvement opportunities
•Identify safety and environmental hazards in the workplace and work together with health and safety to mitigate them in a timely manner.
•Continuously seek to improve technical knowledge and skills.
•Complete quality control test work on mill reagents and identify opportunities for cost savings
•Evaluate and implement projects to improve gold production efficiency and/or reduce costs.
•Troubleshoot and optimize circuit performance and gold production, as well as reagent usage to minimize cost.
•Work closely with the mill assay lab to ensure samples are properly prioritized and results are received in a timely manner
•Assist with refinery tasks if required.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILL REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, FORMAL EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS OR EQUIVALENTS
• _College diploma in mineral processing, metallurgy or another related field.
WORK EXPERIENCE – NATURE & LENGTH
• _A minimum of 1 year of related work experience.
• _Must have a solid understanding of optimizing mill throughput and recovery.
• _Previous experience in a gold processing plant is considered an asset.
