Mechanical Estimator – FullTime Permanent Opportunity

 

Our Client engineers and manufactures a wide range of industrial gears and gearboxes and installs and supports their products in the field to provide value-added services to maintain client needs and ensure reliable service.  

 

Our client is currently hiring a Mechanical Estimator to join their reputable team in the Greater Sudbury community.    The Mechanical Estimator primarily quotes rebuilds and repairs and collaborates with various vendors for pricing to compile quotes on various work packages for end users.  Reports and documentation for management review and knowledge is an important component of the role.  We are seeking an individual who is entry to intermediate level that is interested and highly motivated to grow their existing experience with our mechanical client in an estimating role.  This role offers an opportunity to grow within the organization and could require travel at times to site visits to gather knowledge to prepare estimates and could include travel to Quebec, Northern Ontario, Newfoundland, and western provinces. Travel would be less than 25% of the role.

 

Previous experience and skills required:

 

·     3-5 years of experience working as a millwright installing, maintaining, repairing machinery working on gearboxes, pumps, fans, tanks or conveyors etc.

 

·     3 years of experience working as an estimator quoting medium to large mechanically inclined manufacturing work or field installations

 

·     Minimum college graduate with a mechanical background (millwright or mechanical technologist) and / or a qualified tradesperson knowledgeable of maintenance work in an industrial setting

 

·     Incumbents must have a working familiarity with computers, Microsoft Suite of software, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.

 

·     Must possess excellent communication skills in both English and French.  This role requires someone who is fully bilingual (French/English)

 

·     The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

  

·     Possess a high level of initiative and personal time organization skills to manage assigned workloads; and strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
